Extreme heat in Saudi Arabia: more than 550 pilgrims died

More than 550 pilgrims have died due to extreme heat in Saudi Arabia. Now the temperature in Saudi Arabia has reached almost 52 degrees Celsius.

Millions of pilgrims who have gone on pilgrimage from all over the world are facing problems due to heat. As of yesterday, 555 people have died and 2000 people are seriously ill and are being treated, according to international media citing the Saudi government.

According to the AFP news agency, 320 Egyptians were among the dead. Similarly, the Ministry of Health of Indonesia has said that 144 people who went on pilgrimage have died. Jordan, Senegal, Tunisia and Iran have also said they have lost their citizens.

The number of deaths this year is more than double that of last year. This time, 1.8 million people from all over the world have reached Mecca in Saudi Arabia for Hajj. It is mentioned in the news that Hajj prayers are held in the morning and in the evening when it is extremely hot in the afternoon.
